QUALCOMM eZone - wireless charging
with julie kuang, david vanoni and the user experience group at qualcomm r&d

eZone is QUALCOMM's near magentic resonance wireless charging technology.
our task was to develop future user scenarios and interfaces, coupling eZone with other innovative technologies. our question was: "what kind of new behaviors does ubiquitous wireless charging and continuous portable power enable?" "how does eZone fit in the overall ecology of personal mobile devices?" "how can eZone augment user experience with these devices?"
to this end, i conducted observational field studies, contextual inquiries, brainstorming sessions, and paper prototype testing in multiple scenarios to recommend, in close collaboration with the visual designer, interaction design principles and specifications, to the software engineer. from environments like a restaurant, to a library, we developed context specific interfaces on a new digital medium to support user behavior with eZone.
